TLF-20080622 Rankings

I were bein' about t' post th' latest rankin's from TLR and realised that I haven’t done one fer TLF fer quite a while… and with th' loomin' threat o' a sudden shutdown o' th' IORESORT.COM server, it may very well be th' last one I’ll e'er post.

The first two ships here are victims o' th' score bug… there are only two know ways t' fix th' score on these ships.
1 – Leave th' ships in th' hospital and they’ll disappear from th' rankin's
2 – Hunt them down and kill them when they leave th' hospital… eventually th' score bug will occur again and th' score will be reset t' zero.

We’re all livin' on borrowed time in TLF… this could be th' last chance ye’ll e'er have t' extract yer revenge, so log in and play… NOW!

Maintenance

This blog were bein' recently updated t' WordPress 2.5… but it turns out that quite a few o' th' plugins I use are either incompatible, outdated or broken, and some are just plain toxic! 😛

So I’m now reviewin', updatin' and fixin' as much as I can.

If ye experience any problems or notice a problem that I haven’t, send me an email, leave a comment or send me a message on TLF or TLR.

Polls: Nay updates or patches since September 2006… also turns out they haven’t been acceptin' any new votes fer a couple o' months!
FIXED The code I added from th' BadBehaviour plugin t' prevent ballot stuffin' by a certain user needed t' be updated due t' a RBL server returnin' false positives.

Downloads: Where do I start… I’ve got th' latest version from Oct 2007, th' recent addition o' some AJAX functionality t' th' admin pages broke three other plugins (I’ve spent weeks tryin' t' fix th' other plugins and only just made th' connection)
REPLACING Found a better plugin that also allows multiple versions o' th' same file… should be fully cutover t' th' plugin in a few days. 🙂

Recent Comments: Well, all looks good t' th' readers, but this plugin is almost 4 years auld, and completely breaks th' widget system.
FIXED A bit o' code editin' fixed th' widgets, but I’m thinkin' I might replace this plugin.

Tactic #1: Know your game server(s)!

Here’s th' first post in a (hopefully) ongoin' series o' hints and tips…

What do ye do if th' game server doesn’t appear t' be workin'? You try t' browse t' IOResort.com and yer web browser times out or gives ye some type o' error message.

Unless th' server has completely died or th' hostin' ISP has gone out o' business, there’s a good chance it’s only a minor problem with DNS or a rogue process on th' server.

That’s where this handy table comes into play… it’s got all th' info that a player needs t' access th' games directly! 😀

I guess th' title says it all…

I’ve been told an email has been sent t' Ray, so I guess we’re playin' th' waitin' game now 🙂

BTW I’ve reset th' data fer me online graph o' TLR t' just before th' problem occured, ye scurvey dog. The graph showed that o'er a 2 hour period th' number o' users gradually reached o'er 100. Since nobody were bein' actually able t' log in th' graph isn’t that useful.

The auld avatar plugin (Comvatars) were bein' cute, but only had a limited number o' images that could be used.

The new avatar plugin uses images from Gravatar.com, which allows any image a user may want t' be their avatar.

Update time!!!

Major movements in th' ranks as a lot o' people take their frustrations out on KC.
