ELF – Eternal Lifetime Feud?

The ban has now reached th' 600 day mark…

It’s quite admirable that Dragelet has stuck t' his principles, and continues t' deny me access t' th' only remainin' SST server, yet still refuses t' divulge th' reason fer th' ban.

But that is where me admiration now ends… I now consider his server an abomination t' th' memories I had o' SST.

SST began as a BBS text game, but ye have destroyed it’s heritage by disablin' this method o' play… and yer reason why, avast? It’s th' source o' all thin's evil… bots, scripts, clients? Aarrr! Or is it because those were th' tools that ye used t' rape and pillage th' original SST game, and ye’re worried someone may use yer own tactics against yer server?

I’ve been wonderin' why Ray shutdown his server and has been unavailable t' explain why… I’m beginnin' t' suspect that he were bein' embarrassed that he didn’t do anythin' t' prevent ye from ruinin' th' game.

So t' wrap it up, if ye’re a real die hard SST fan, treasure yer memories o' SST as there no longer exists any game servers that continues th' true spirit o' th' game, and that th' creator o' th' game would be proud o'.

SST Nostalgia

In celebration o' their 10th birthday, Google has fer a limited time pulled out o' their archive th' oldest index o' th' web they have, with a chest full of booty. This index goes back t' th' end o' 2001. Bein' curious, I decided t' do a search o' ‘starshiptraders’ t' see what I would find:

TLF-20080726 Rankings

The final TLF ranks (e'er!)

I’ve been puttin' off postin' these results… it just doesn’t seem right that a game I’ve invested half a decade into could be so easily erased.

As this is a special occasion, I’ve decided t' show more ships & teams on th' summary page than normal…

Congrats t' th' dedicated members o' team MSS… though it’s a score bug ship, unless Ray comes out o' hidin' and deems it an invalid score, REEF1 is clearly superior t' all o' us! 😛
And havin' a team rankin' o' #7 is somethin' t' be proud o'.

I’m very pleased that 7 o' me original ships made it into th' top 11 (The Robottt ships were donated t' me by Q when I joined DBD) and that team MPE, under th' guidance o' th' resourceful Cap'n Bestark, maintained our #1 position t' th' very end.

To all th' people that have e'er played TLF…

Thanks fer th' memories, it’s been an honor t' play with most (some?) o' ye!

PS This site will be maintained by me fer as long as I can… It’s exact future is still yet t' be determined.

End of an era

That’s it, th' IOResort server is no longer respondin' as o' 15:00 AEST (+10:00).

I grabbed a copy o' th' rankin's about 4 hours ago, which I’ll post later today. If anyone has a newer version let me know.

Farewell TLF & TLR! It’s been a blast!

On a related note, Space Tryant has also disappeared.

TLF-20080622 Rankings

I were bein' about t' post th' latest rankin's from TLR and realised that I haven’t done one fer TLF fer quite a while… and with th' loomin' threat o' a sudden shutdown o' th' IORESORT.COM server, it may very well be th' last one I’ll e'er post.

The first two ships here are victims o' th' score bug… there are only two know ways t' fix th' score on these ships.
1 – Leave th' ships in th' hospital and they’ll disappear from th' rankin's
2 – Hunt them down and kill them when they leave th' hospital… eventually th' score bug will occur again and th' score will be reset t' zero.

We’re all livin' on borrowed time in TLF… this could be th' last chance ye’ll e'er have t' extract yer revenge, so log in and play… NOW!

Tactic #1: Know your game server(s)!

Here’s th' first post in a (hopefully) ongoin' series o' hints and tips…

What do ye do if th' game server doesn’t appear t' be workin'? Walk the plank! You try t' browse t' IOResort.com and yer web browser times out or gives ye some type o' error message.

Unless th' server has completely died or th' hostin' ISP has gone out o' business, there’s a good chance it’s only a minor problem with DNS or a rogue process on th' server.

That’s where this handy table comes into play… it’s got all th' info that a player needs t' access th' games directly! Aarrr! 😀

Major movements in th' ranks as a lot o' people take their frustrations out on KC.

Kudos t' Duks & th' remainin' loyal MSS players who have played a major part in th' destruction o'er th' last couple o' weeks!

The beginning of the End?

There’s yet another sour taste in th' air at TLF…

MSS has been betrayed by one o' it’s own, and th' identity o' me self proclaimed nemesis may have been revealed… or at least th' substitute identity.

Most o' these events occurred whilst I wasn’t aroun', so may not be entirely accurate. The order may not be correct either 😛

  • DPS attacks MPE farms, and gets MSS & COG t' assist.
  • Mir announces his retirement, and has left his ships with th' ship sitter (KC)
  • Cleanup o' inactive NET ships upsets KC, attacks on MPE/B.M assets begin, and dinna spare the whip!
  • All hell breaks loose when MSS is allowed t' claim planets from a NET farm that is bein' uncovered.
  • NET attacks MSS, and it is revealed that KC has access t' more than just Mir’s ships on MSS… apparently Nimrod, ABCD & DFGH have been under KC’s control fer a while (I’m guessin' since th' retirement o' another player)

The future o' MSS now looks shaky as th' betrayal appears t' have broken their morale…
All I want t' say is, don’t just give up… don’t hand yer ships o'er t' someone else… liquidate everythin' and hit those who have betrayed ye!

There’s probably more t' th' story than what I’ve posted here. If anyone wants t' help fill in th' gaps let me know!

Oh yeah, I’ve finally had some feedback on th' state o' th' ELF server.
Apparently th' server were bein' due t' be upgraded th' week before th' online graphs went insane.
There’s no explanation o' why th' strange data were bein' generated, or why I’ve been blocked from accessin' th' server… but me informant is worried about possible backlash from th' admins, so has asked me not t' identify who they are.

See me paranoia is contagious! 😀

TLF-20070801 Rankings

Okay, I’ll admit it, I’ve been a very lazy person… no score updates fer 6 weeks?

What’s been happenin' lately? Not much actually, it appears t' be holiday season in th' northern hemisphere, resultin' in even fewer players than normal 🙁

Worth mentionin' though are th' followin' two chain o' events.

* Mir arranged fer a ship sitter t' look after his ships while he’s off.
* Mir then reported his ships stolen… all o' th' passwords had been changed.
* Nimrod publicly accuses KRY o' stealin' his teammates ships.
* The ship sitter were bein' revealed t' be KC (how many ships are ye lookin' after now?), and Mir were bein' able t' get t' his ships again.
* And th' last we heard… th' passwords have been changed again 😛
* And we’re still waitin' fer a retraction o' Nimrod’s accusation, avast! 😀

* RAGEAGAINSTTHEMACHINE were bein' released from th' hospital, with th' score bug still in full effect.
* RAGEAGAINSTTHEMACHINE were bein' returned t' th' hospital…
* Repeat th' above two events another 20-50 times…
* RAGEAGAINSTTHEMACHINE now has a score o' 0! The overflow bug that gave th' ship th' ridiculously high score had finally been triggered again, resultin' in an underflow calculation.
* KC accuses B.M o' havin' admin access t' th' server, and o' tamperin' with th' ship’s score. ROFLMAO, I challenge anyone who believes this is possible t' install th' SST game and t' actually have a look at what options an admin actually has.

And lastly… I’ve jumped teams, pass the grog! I’ve joined forces with Bestark and Spiro, and me ships are now on MPE. And hoist the mainsail! I’m still allied with th' remainin' members on team KRY.
